Dr. Sherif Abouelnaga visited New York and New Jersey on June 9th, 2012, where he was invited by the Egyptian Cultural Center to speak to the Egyptian American Professional Society (EAPS) during their quarterly meeting. He gave a presentation about Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 (CCHE) and it was very well-received by the EAPS. This was a great beginning to what will be a long, prosperous and collaborative relationship between the Egyptian Cultural Center, CCHE and ECN.

One of the biggest outcomes of Dr. Sherif’s visit to New York was the initiative to create a volunteer chapter in the Tri-State Area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut) which will be led by Dr. Fatma Abboud, Chief Executive Officer of EIHAB Human Services, and the Chair of the Egyptian Cultural Center.

The Tri-State Area has a large Egyptian-American population, which would make it a prime location for a new ECN Chapter. It is our hope that this chapter will be fully established in the near future, and that it will be added to a list of prominent chapters that have already been established, including ECN Dallas and ECN Los Angeles.

ECN is proud to have a talented staff and a library for our volunteers where they can find everything they need to start a chapter in their area for fundraising and outreach. We are very excited about the formation of this new chapter and we will continue to do everything necessary to support this great endeavor.
