Each patient room is a Protective Environment (PE), a sealed space with positive air pressure and strenuous filtration requirements.

  • A HEPA filtration system in conjunction with hard ceilings minimizes harmful airborne particulates.
  • All water is filtered to 0.2 microns to minimize waterborne contaminants.
  • The Bone Marrow Transplant unit is closed to traffic from other areas in the hospital. It is self-supporting via a dedicated med room, supply room, and clean/soiled utility rooms. All visitors to the unit must use the handwash station prior to entry.
